Conveniently located in both Federal Way and Seattle, Washington the transition houses focus on assessing participants’ current levels of independent living skills, provide training and mentoring on independent living, offer assistance with obtaining/providing transitional housing and locating permanent housing. We plan to systematically train individuals with Autism Spectrum diagnoses. The focus will be on developing competency with independent living skills and preparing their families and the individuals for the psychological process of being on their own and being a part of a community. These initial skills may include cooking, shopping, cleaning, self-care/hygiene, basic repairs and home maintenance, budgeting, time-management, using transportation services, distress tolerance, and social skills.
